Dance Classes FAQ
How do your classes run (by semester, drop in style, etc.)?
Most of our classes start in August and finish in June with our yearly recital. However, enrollment is still open for many of these classes. For more information, see our dance class page.
We also have a Belly Dance Course that runs for 5 weeks in February & March and Adult Tap Courses that run for 6 weeks in February & March. Please see our tap & bellydance page for more information on these classes.
We also have drop in classes in tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. You can pay per class or you can purchase punch cards for multiple classes. See our drop in dance class page for more information on these classes.
When is your yearly recital?
Our yearly recital will be held at Pease Auditorium on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
Do you have a limit on the size of a class?
Yes, Dancers Unite limits the size of our dance classes, since we want to make sure that each student receives individual attention. We limit class size to 15 and for our preschool dance classes we have at least a 5 to 1 student/teacher ratio.
Registration therefore is done on a first come, first serve basis, so if the class fills up then you will have to take another dance class.
If my child or I miss a class due to being out of town, my child being sick, or a holiday, will the class be made up?
You will be allowed to make-up the class by taking another class on our schedule. For instance, if your child misses the 5-7 year old hip hop/cheerdance class on Friday, they would be able to take the 5-7 year old jazz/hip hop class on Saturday another week free of cost. Just ask one of the owners (Miss Jo, Miss Julie or Miss Elizabeth) for assistance in finding a make-up class, or call the studio at 704-846-2985 or e-mail us at info@dancersunite.net.
There’s a class I want to take, but I can’t make the time of the class. Will I not be able to take the class?
Please contact us either by calling us at 704-846-2985 or by e-mailing us at info@dancersunite.net and let us know. If there is enough interest for an additional class on a different day and time, we may add one, but please note we can’t make any promises as we are limited by room/teacher availability.
What types of payment are accepted?
Dancers Unite accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover via online payments. If you do not wish to pay online, we also accept personal checks and cash.
Do you offer sibling discounts?

I want to register for classes, but I do not wish to pay online. What should I do?
To pay with a credit card or checking account over the phone, please call us at 704-846-2985. Completing registration over the phone will reduce your paperwork as you can tell us the information we need & we can fill out the registration form for you! *Please note: you will need to sign a registration form on the first day of class, but the information will already be filled out.*
If you do not wish to provide credit card or checking account information over the phone, then you can print the registration form (click here for the dance class registration form), fill it out, and mail both the form and a check for the $50.00 non-refundable registration fee (per dancer) to:

If you do not wish to print the registration form off yourself, then call us at 704-846-2985 to give us your mailing information so that we can send a registration form to you.
Please complete a separate registration form for each dancer. Also, please note that registration will not be complete until we receive both the check and the form. Once registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. If the classes you have selected have already filled to capacity prior to your form and check arriving in the mail, then we will give you a call to discuss other class options. Be sure to send your form and check as soon as possible to ensure you get the classes you want!
What is the age range of classes offered?
Dancers Unite’s goal is to make sure everyone has a dance class suitable for their age. We have classes starting at 2 years up to adult classes!
My child has taken four years at another dance studio and this would be her fifth year making her eligible for a five year trophy. Would she still be eligible for a five year trophy even though the dance lessons were taken at another studio?
Absolutely! When your child starts dancing here, any years of dance taken at previous studios will carry over. Students reaching their five, ten and fifteen year milestones will be awarded with a trophy at the end of the year which will be given to them on stage at the recital.
Why can't I enroll in the pointe class?
We hold evaluations for all students interested in taking pointe. This is to make sure that the students are physically ready for pointe -- starting pointe too early can be dangerous for the dancer. Pre-pointe classes are also an option, to help prepare the student for dancing en pointe. Please check out more information about our pointe classes.
